Centrifuge arriving tomorrow

Hi guys,

I have a Beckman TJ6 along with the TJR arriving arriving tomorrow and I cannot wait to start experimenting more with it. I have tinkered with a friend's unit but his maxes out at 250ml. Mine will hold a lot more than that. I am looking for a few recommendations or parameters to start out with concerning time and speed. Is it safe to say that density of the ingredients plays a factor in it all? Are the incremental stages to practice with or is it mostly testing to determine desired results? Thanks in advance.

Sometimes low g's can make interesting and clean automatic sauces. Otherwise we generally spin everything at maximum g's for minimum time necessary. Things to consider are;

How conductive are your bottles and rotor.

Spinning hot things that cool can destroy the bottles by vacuum and ruin entire batches or the machine.

Spinning to cold with somethings take more energy to spin(increased viscosity)

The first spin in the centrifuge is running right now. I'm very excited to see the results of the tomato water I have spinning. I had to put in a little tlc to the unit I got on auction but other than a good cleaning I only had to replace the fuse to get in fired up and the refrigeration unit is running strong so far. I post results in a couple of hours.

Hello @apatin42,

I got the same centrifuge as you but without the refrigeration unit. You can do the pea butter and clarification of about anything with a bit of Pectinex. One of our favorite is the banana gin! Keep us informed with your progresses.

P.S. Since I couldn't find containers at a reasonable price. With a bit of adjustement you can use some disposable containers as open top "tube". They fit quite well in the swinging bucket. What kind of rotor do you have?
