Hoppy bread
Gabriele_Di_Cerbo_40805
it sucks... I made sourdough bread with ipa instead of water. It needed a longer bulk fermentation and what is left it's just a weird bitter taste in the bread. It may be good with a different type of beer...

Nice crumb. Sorry the flavor sucked though. Lots of work to not be able to enjoy. I bet the IPA might be better in a non-sourdough format since both are on the bitter side to begin with. Still, not a total loss. The bread might be good as croutons or maybe bread crumbs. Worth a shot anyway.

yes I will find some use for it and it was kind of fun to make it. I will try with a weisse or a toasted lager in the future

I find there are very few things you can make with an IPA that do not come out very bitter. I got similar results when i tried making beer fries. Let us know how the next one comes out.

Ditto on John's comment!!

Looks like a nice rise on inside and crust on the outside. Bummer the taste is off. I've never had any luck (flavor wise) using IPA beers.

You always make beautiful bread... maybe the way to incorporate the IPA into the recipe would be to drink it while the other ingredients are combined and also while it bakes.... and also after it bakes👍🍺

She's a beauty, bummer the taste isn't up to scratch.
Try beers like La Trappe Dubbel and/or La Trappe Isid'or ..if you can get it. Also, there's a bakery here that sells bread where they've incorporated grains used for making beer, but only after mash stage (brewers only use the liquid after this stage, the rest usually becomes cattle feed). That really gives it a beery edge and a wonderful texture.
La Trappe is a Dutch Trappist beer by the way

Could taste great with, say, a ripe vacherin cheese or something?

La Trappe is a fine beer! I like the idea of using specialty grains after steeping for bread. I will definitely give that a try!
