Cooking with Cannabis

Here's a course ChefSteps readers could use. I have produced an online course for home cooks to learn how to cook with cannabis. My partner, Cannabis Cheri, is a long time food and cookbook writer and we developed it together. As it turns out, many of our students are working chefs looking to expand their skills.

In states where marijuana is legal, I know of chefs who are holding "infused" dinners (usually at a private residence or other venue) where each course is not just great to look at and eat, it's also micro-dosed with cannabis for a little something extra.

What's the point? All of your proposed recipes are only for the sake of adding the drug affect to foods you already cook. From what I can tell, as all your content requires a payment, the only point it to add the active effects of marijuana to foods you already cook. There's really nothing about expanding your skill set, just about adding pot to your diet. And, considering this is you first day as a member, I'm getting the overwhelming SPAM vibe.

The point? Well there are many states where cannabis is used medicinally, and many people have their quality of life enhanced and extended. Why not have your edibles taste good and if chefs like working with it, that's their business. I do have a FREE course that teaches about proper dosing of edibles as everyone has a different tolerance and needs. Yes there is a charge for the full two hour course but there are many online cooking schools that charge. As far as spam? Well, you may call it that. I call it necessary instruction to use a "new" (it's almost as old as salt) ingredient in cooking and healthcare that is not going away. I came here because some our students are culinary professionals who have expanded their culinary skills. My intent is not to spam, but inform. Take the free class and see.

"Medical" pot. Yeah, there's sure a whole lot of sick young people out there. Just tell it like it is and stop the BS. You wanna get high...get high. Just don't think for a moment potheads are fooling the rest of us with this 'medical' crap.

I completely and utterly disagree.

I've seen firsthand here in WA how many cancer patients and other folks with serious problems are using medical cannabis to manage their pain without opioids. When one out of five folks given a ten day supply of prescription opioid painkillers become addicts, I'm thinking that overall, our definition of 'drugs' is broken.

Simple fact - in states that have legalized, there are only positive effects, across the board.

(This may be spam, but I still disagree with the "just kids, getting high" thesis.)

Didn't see any reference to medical usage...just "cannabis for a little something extra." Me....use it a couple times a month...fibromyalgia....stenosis of C2,3,4,5 and just old an beat the hell up....sometimes it takes more than wine

I have NO objection....not one....of LEGITIMATE medical use. Where the ruse comes in is when anybody who wants to smoke reefer can go to a 'clinic' and be 'prescribed' a medical marijuana card. California is the perfect example. Cali should either make it legal and controlled OR stop pretending the these 'clinics' that also happen to be head shops, are in any way shape or form medical. It's not fooling anybody. Except maybe the potheads who think they're being clever.

Medical crap? It's not crap and I can help you sift through the BS. Everyone calls it crap until someone they know or someone in their family is helped with medical marijuana. There is mountains of evidence showing its beneficial properties, and yes mild euphoria or "getting high" is a side effect. But, you can say that about many, many things we eat, like sugar. OK off my soapbox.

I'm here to help any chefs or home cooks who may have questions about how to best incorporate cannabis into their meals. It's not as simple as using oregano, basil or other herb. Cannabis usually needs some form of special preparation or infusion into a fat before using in recipes.

I have an honest question are these message boards here mostly to sell and promote the Joule: Sous Vide product or general culinary talk?

Fortunately for us, cannabis doesn't care how or why we use it as all use is medicinal, like any other vitamin or supplement. I find edibles are much better for pain reduction than smoking too.

Opioids aren't that bad. The canabis just can't handle most pain levels. You can buy tapentadol online in this shop. Hope it helps.
