quick tip to those making egg bites:

Avoid mixing base and casting into jars AND THEN resting them in the fridge before cooking. The instant the jars hit the water, "pop" 

Glass and egg mixture all up in Joule's business. 

Make sure to have the water up to temp by the time you have the jars filled. 😬

Thermal shock will do it every time. Though, you could have left the jars on the counter while you allowed Joule to bring the water up to temperature. The time it would have taken (unless you were starting off with ice water...and even then) wouldn't have allowed for any risk, microbially speaking, so long as you were observing basic kitchen hygiene.
