Sous Vide Bacon

Hey all,

I'm excited to try the sous vide bacon but wondering if my bacon will work.

It's a super-market brand butcher cut. It's supposed to be vacuum packed but the plastic around the bacon is pretty loose, and there's also a cardboard insert in the packaging alongside the bacon.

Would it be better to double bag in a ziploc?

I always repack just to be safe. Especially if there is something else inside beside just meat. No vacuum sealer? If it were me I'd actually go buy the food saver that's like $80. That's all I have and it does the job. I'd be even worried about double zip locks. But other people have done it and I assume it's ok most of the time. I just think if one bag can fail then why would 2 be any better. Maybe on high heat short cooks, but for long ones the second bag will be in the same conditions as soon as the first one fails.

Actually, looks like the FM2000 is only $65 on Amazon. Even better. That's what I have.
