For a rib rub that calls for salt do I use kosher or table salt?

Chefsteps uses kosher salt more often than not, but there's no reason you couldn't use table salt.

I believe kosher is the preferred salt for most applications.

More table salt fits in volume measurements than kosher salt. So make sure to follow what the recipe says. Otherwise adjust to make sure you don't end up with too much salt in the rub if you end up using table salt

The great thing about using mass for recipes (like chefsteps), is volume doesn't matter. Because of the shape, kosher salt will have a lot more volume (seem like a lot more) than table salt. But as long as you use a scale, you will get the exact same results.
Hope that helps!
