Baby food

Hello Sous Vide Enthusiasts,

My husband just purchased a Joule and I would like to use it to make baby food. We have the Sage Spoonfuls baby food recipe book and I would like to figure out how to use the Joule to prepare everything.

I'm not familiar with the book, but it seems to me that sous vide is a sensible approach for baby food. Is there something specific that you want to know?

While I don't know about your cookbook, I can tell you that cooking veg sous vide will far surpass anything you can buy in a jar! Veg are cooked at temps between 180-185 from 1 to 2 hours, depending on what it is you're cooking. And when they're done, you can mash them up or puree, whatever will serve your baby's needs. Except for adding a very small amount of oil in with the veg, you don't have to add anything else. I've added the link to the CS time/temp chart for you. Veg are towards the bottom of the chart. I am not one who is easily impressed. While I admit a lifelong love for cooking, and the associated collection of kitchen tools, Joule is amazing! Doesn't the recipe book say how to use it? It is an immersion blender and you can grind everything to a mushy state all food, but consider the baby's needs. And choose a deeper dish as it makes a splash. We could barely wash our new clothes

We used to use it too, but only to mash meat so the baby would eat mashed meat. After the first use I found hoodies for toddler boys to buy on the website, I also ordered some bibs there and we didn't get anything dirty. So the immersion blender can be used away from children, but if you really like the joint process of cooking with the baby, it is better to change in advance
