Using Dry Ice instead of Liquid Nitrogen?
Lachlan_Hunt_17368
Instead of using liquid nitrogen for making Tant Pour Tant, can I use dry ice instead? I know I can obtain small amounts of dry ice locally, but I'm not sure about liquid nitrogen.

This is answered on the Discussion page that is part of the course. I find that a little confusing too that there are two discussion boards are not linked, maybe they will sort that out someday. In a word, the answer is yes with a powerful blender.

I checked about liquid nitrogen availability. It is available at a local gas supplier, but they sell 10L for about the equivalent of $200. Dry ice is about half that price, but still quite a lot. I think I'll just make them without doing this.

That is strangely expensive. I knew a professor who worked for my university's MRI lab, and he would fill my thermos up with liquid nitrogen when I stopped by.

@Lachlan
Hunt That is really expensive. What do they charge for a full-size 140 liter or larger Dewar. I would bet that it's about the same price.

nice to have that connection! In case anyone else is considering this, let's emphasize NO TOP ON THE THERMOS! I would hate to hear of someone creating a bomb and blowing themselves up.
