Hi there,

A few pics from our trip to Chilean Patagonia, between working with colleagues in the fjords and lakes, and camping and cooking... And yes, before you ask, that is an entire cow, grilled during the Puyuhuapi Country Fair...

PS. First pic is not mine, but lunch at Bodega Ver Sacrum (actually in Mendoza, across the Andes)

PPS. Gin is Tepaluma, a Patagonian gin indused with native woods and berries. Absolutely brilliant.

Gorgeous - the food and scenery (although sad to see the glacier has receded that far). Thanks for sharing.

Yup, it's the sad story of most glaciers, especially the Patagonian ones. To give you a scale, there was no lake in 1850... And the glacier was as high as where the tree line is on the sides... We are unfortunately all responsible to some extend...

Yup... I have visited the glaciers in the Canadian Rockies many times through my life (as well as others around the world but the Canadian are the only ones I've seen the change first hand) and it's the same story. I have pictures from my Grandfather's childhood where dozens of cars were lined up to light up the hockey rink on the harbour near my home and there hasn't been a single year in my lifetime where a person could even skate on it.
