Is it possible to spherify an oil?
steve_altmayer_54904
I see many possibilities for flavored oil spheres. I've seen olive spheres so i assume there is a technique.
Thanks

Steve I'm very curious to see where you go with this but when making a sphere using alginate and calcium you need water to dissolve it in, hence the term hydrocolloid. I'm curious about taking water and dissolving your hydrocolloids in then using a surfactant to emulsify that liquid into your desired oil........ Hope this helps

You can frozen reverse spherify an oil. Freeze the oil in a mold, then dip it into a warm alginate bath.

@Chris
which calcium salts are oil soluble? Presumably you could also freeze a calcium containing liquid around some frozen oil, and have that act as the membrane.
