Dear ChefSteps Community,
My name is Andrew, and my partner Nick and I are pleased to announce that we've started working with the ChefSteps development team on the ChefSteps mobile app. It will be coming soon in the next few months, initially to the iPhone App Store (not iPad yet, but we will consider it down the road if there is interest). We're excited to create a fantastic mobile experience and would like to share some of our thoughts here and invite comments and feedback from the community.
Our thoughts on mobile are that they represent a very different use case for ChefSteps versus browsing on desktop, namely much more heavily focused on lightweight content 'snacking' and browsing/learning while waiting in line at the bank and on the go. We also think that mobile is more useful in the kitchen than wielding a laptop. Initially, we are focusing our efforts on creating a beautiful mobile recipe viewer that showcases recipe videos, photos, and text. See the attached image for a screenshot of how it might look.
We'd love to hear from you about how you currently use mobile with ChefSteps, and what you as a community member would find most useful for us to focus on after the recipe viewer is out. One option is ChefSteps classes. Another option, related to our recent initiative to showcase the recipe development process, is to take advantage of your phone always being in your pocket and through the app, push new content and engaging discussions to you on a more frequent basis (either through iPhone push notifications or less intrusively, an app badge number).
What are you excited about, and what would you want to see in a ChefSteps app? We look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Sincerely,
Andrew, Nick, and the entire ChefSteps Development Team
