I was reading the recipe article on
celery juice and decided to order some sodium bisulfite. Actually I got sodium metabisulfite so I was investigating the differences there and came across this
New York Times article from 1988 about the FDA banning the use of sulfites in uncooked foods due to several deaths linked to its use, as well as severe allergic reactions, particularly in asthma sufferers.
So my questions(s) about its use here: Wouldn't the celery juice recipe (and also the
basil oil recipe) be considered an uncooked food and the use of a sulfites in them would be considered hazardous by the FDA? Is WD-50 serving foods with sulfites added?
