Mannitol sugar alcohol

Hey guys, just after abit more info on mannitol sugar alcohol and the best way to work with it?
From my understanding which currently is not a lot,
You heat the mannitol to a specific temperature? and once this is achieved it will set like a hard crack sugar?
This can be set in any form or shell.
