Pine

Hello, I've seen people use pine needles to infuse vinegar, or for use in teas, or for smoking and those sort of things. I was wondering if there are other uses, perhaps using it when pan basting meat as you would with many other herbs. Also, what is the proper procedure for cleaning the needles?

Have used pine needles over (actually tied to) vegetables to take advantage of their natural oils. My favorite is pine needles tied to asparagus grilled on the bbq. With pork and some roasted apple I find quite pleasant. FWIW.
