Crispy Baked French Fries

Hey everyone,
I'm trying a few techniques for crisping up baked fries so that they have a similar crunch to deep fried french fries. I've seen some different techniques like boiling them first or coating the fries in seasoned egg whites and wanted to ask if anyone here had any other suggestions?

In theory you could just make roast potatoes in the shape of chunky french fries? Beef dripping seems to crisp up potatoes like nothing else. If you can get hold of it try using that, mixed 50/50 with mild olive oil. They shoudl take about an hour in the oven.
The results should be pretty good. We've used this to make crispy potato wedges, when we couldn't be bothered going the full triple cooked chip.
