Egg found in garden
tshewman
We found this in our garden. I suspect a goose egg, but not sure. It's one big a$$ egg. My..........significant other is afraid to crack it and put it back in the garden where I grew up on a farm where we had eggs inside of eggs......Any guesses?

Yeah, looks like a goose egg.

That's what I thought (and we do have allot of geese in the area) although some think it's a snake's egg, but if memory serves they tend to lay a few at a time.

Looks about right for a goose egg. Snake eggs also tend to be leathery, because they're reptiles.

Okay, so in-law birthday and curiosity at it's peak after ribs (which is another cooking story), we had to see. We suspect a goose egg. Really rich yolk but great for dunking soldiers. The yolk as big as the slice of toast and the cooking time for the white remarkably short. With the size of the egg, I had a bit of a laugh wondering if this might not be a great egg for one of Heston's feasts. :-)
