Hey Ya'll,
Just finishing up my undergrad work as a Culinary Scientist and I've been enticed by a new-found challenge...
One of my chef friends recently posted a status on a social media website saying she was going to "make disgusting body parts that taste delicious". The idea got me thinking, why not do a Halloween-themed dinner that takes the idea of body part(s), and using different techniques (i.e. fluid gel - bodily fluids, poultry roulades - limbs, pig intestines filled with cooked but still malleable sausage/boudin - intestines, etc), make an extravagant cannibalistic-like dinner? Of course one could focus solely on an arm/skull/leg, but the idea of unveiling an entire realistic faux-body sounds gruesome, horrendous, frightening, and terrifying... everything Halloween encompasses, right? Heston Blumenthal did a good interpretation in his
Gothic Feast, however, I'd like to make it entirely edible (i.e. bone/skin substitutes that are self-supporting).
So that's what I'm gonna work on during my free-time. If anyone has ideas or pictures, I thought this would be a good place to collaborate if anyone wanted to get involved.
