New things!

Hey everyone, you might have noticed some design changes.

1. A layer of polish has been applied, so a variety of things look better!

2. The 'new comments' feature works properly now. We've had a number of users ask us to mark which posts are new, so now new comments have a little blue dot by them. This also works for content pages!

For the long running threads, would sub category or magical hashtag search be an idea?

I'm thinking that might be an easy way to resurrect long lived posts like Dinner/Breakfast/Fails?

Absolutely this is something we're looking into!

In general the new user interface is setup for lots of rich, smaller threads, than a few giant ones. This has a few benefits, for example it makes it easier to subscribe to individual posts rather than receive everything. It also means that your comments will be seen by more people, rather than the first few posts in giant threads receiving 10x or 100x the amount of views than a comment made on say page 12.

We're working to find the best way to easily work this into the interface to get all the benefits of the awesome large threads without the downsides.

So why don't the main threads mark as read when I click them? It makes it nearly impossible to figure out where I left off reading...

Another request - I don't know what the best way of treating this is - but.....

Some sort of email like categorization and tracking of topics - much like maybe BaseCamp or similar loosely structured tools would be cool, right now I find myself scrolling a lot to see what has been updated. I don't think the facebook way is great nor is the G+ way, in G+ I control it with notification circles, plugins for tags and circle organization. In day to day I use filtering heavily for email list and developer updates from multiple Jira and Git systems.

Can you explain what you mean by pasting image links? Do you think that pasted image links should be converted to inline images?

That is actually how I pasted every single what's for dinner image the last few years.
