I have seen plenty of posts of people cooking pork belly so I was hoping to pick your brains. Has anyone encountered hair still on your pork belly? How do you guys remove the hair?
The other week I tried to make sous vide braised pork belly for my ramen and I noticed a lot of hair on my pork belly. I attempted to pick each hair individually, but there many hairs barely sticking out from the surface and figured if I cooked my pork belly for 48 hours, it should be tender enough to pluck but that wasn't the case for me. I hear of people singeing the hairs off with a blow torch but I was hoping there would be an easier way. Is hair on pork belly typical, or could my pork belly just be improperly butchered?
