I'm looking for good Squid Ink
David_Henley_36942
I want to make squid ink pasta but everywhere I've found online sells cuttlefish ink which is fishier and is brown ink instead of blue-black. Does anyone know where to get good quality squid ink?

There seems to be a lot on amazon and depending on how much you need marxfoods has it in bulk

I use the Alma brand, from Spain. You can get it on Amazon or at latienda.com.

Alma is Cuttlefish ink, not squid ink. Fishier and brown instead of black. I've tried it.

That link is Cuttlefish Ink, a fishier and cheaper product.

The ingredients include Cuttlefish ink, I wonder how much squid ink is actually in it.

Can't help you there. I trust marxfoods products though so take that FWIW

Where do you live? If you have access to fresh squid I'd suggest simply buying whole squid and harvesting the ink yourself. Most Asian markets I know carry whole squid and sell them intact.

Nashville. Interesting I will check this out.

Keep in mind, that's not a super practical approach! You aren't going to get more than a few grams of ink from a normal sized squid. But if you're determined to get and use squid ink, then there you go.
