Held a recent Australian wine tasting event at home for 18 friends with a buffet dinner afterwards.
The wines were:
- Jansz Rose, NV, Tasmania;
- Brookenwood Semillon, 2013, Hunter Valley;
- Vasse Felix Chardonnay, 2012, Margaret River;
- Innocent Bystander Pinot Noir, 2013, Yarra Valley;
- Kilikannon Blocks Road Cabernet Sauvignon, 2006, Clare Valley.

Blini with beet, Crème fraîche and Ikura was served with the sparkling.

Apple juice and milk brined turkey with a cranberry ginger compote with the whites.
Australian grass fed strip steak with Chimichurri with the reds.
For the buffet you will have to imagine whole chicken ballotines stuffed with spinach and garlic, side by side with roast boneless lamb legs all on a bed of cinnamon/tomato braised cauliflower and onions; house harissa and roasted chicken jus; roasted carrots; just over 6lb over smashed fingerling spuds; some dutch oven dinner rolls and a green salad with candied pecans, blue cheese and a rose vin (I was far too slow in getting a pic).

Dessert was v4 of crunchy s'mores.
Don't expect adults to be civilised when the s'mores come out and you will be shanked by a broken wine bottle if you get between a lady and the carmelised white chocolate chunks.
A big thanks to Linda and Scott in the kitchen and Jamie for FOH.
