I am planning on making this for an upcoming birthday. with vanilla cake instead of chocolate. How did it taste? Worth making it?

I'm not big on cake generally, but I like this a lot. I've made it with chocolate and vanilla cake and prefer the chocolate. I know the official Milk Bar version uses vanilla though. Make sure not to skimp on the filling. You want a nice thick layer of curd. I'd consider upping the curd recipe by 25% or so. It doesn't hurt to have extra to go with the cake scraps. I also think the coffee buttercream could be improved. Maybe up the coffee quotient. I think the Chefsteps buttercream was better than Tosi's, so maybe adapt that to a coffee version. I haven't tried that, but that would be where I'd tinker next time.

Thanks for the insight. I'll let you know how it goes.

cake done. tried the individual components, and they were super delicious. I didn't use their recipe for the passion fruit curd. Instead I used the CS lemon curd recipe, omitted the zest and citric acid. Replaced 150g lemon juice, with passion fruit.
I've done this curd before, and once again it's absolutely delicious.
And yes, I added a larger layer of curd than the recipe suggested.
Thanks for the tips.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to try the assembled cake. But I'll hear from a few people on how it turns out
