I've never really cooked risotto, how's it done

Hey sorry I just saw this now. What I did was cook the onions until they were translucent, then added in my rice (arborio) and stirred it around until it crisped slightly. Then I added in all of the wine until it reduced completely. I had warm chicken stock in another pot which I ladled in one scoop at a time, stirring until the liquid was completely absorbed before adding in the next. After that was done I gently stirred in the saffron strands and seasoned it to taste. Here is the recipe I used, I just left out the parm cheese.
