I think I first signed up for the MG course there was one line that caught my attention......"so you slowly murdered the family ficus" I think my father could fill a bbook of what I killed in the garden as a child.....
So, I slowly started to look into it. About two days before leaving on this trip (I watered the seeds with cold water-to slow take-off.:-)...) and then read allot more into the project and purchased the first book. I was mentally dissapointed that I didn't see anything (yet I wanted to delay it until after I left because I don't return until Late next Wednesday :-)..). I received a picture today that demosntarted some decent growth. I basically considered this first effort a write-off (actually I suspect the next 2-3 as well), and was pleasantly surprised with the update I received. I planted 3 trays of spicy mix and 3 of mild and there is some decent evidence of both. I'm actually quite pleased so far and after reading, know what I have to change for the next try, but think I'll still be able to salvage a taste or two of these if refrigerated prior to my return 9if necessary). Next round, I'll be able to taste more as I go but at least this will give me an idea of growth rate and an opportunity to make some adjustments next time. It's been quite fun (which I can't say I ever thought I would say about any gardening).
