Perseverance pays off!

I documented in the other thread, but this was 20% power for 70 minutes with a very heavy load of garlic, olive oil and separate jar of water.

Any reason you'd use this technique again in the future rather than just doing it in the oven?
douglas_bd
No. (sorry Grant)
Roasting garlic in the oven has never really been an issue, and more importantly, from my experience, it results in a superior product. Perhaps I'm not giving the microwave it's fair due and it's possible to meet or exceed the same quality as the oven, but based on what I've seen, there is little convenience benefit, and the results are, let's just say, more temperamental.
Honestly, I was more intrigued with why a seemingly straightforward technique failed for myself and so many others than any compulsion to up my garlic roasting repertoire. My testing clearly lacked scientific rigor, and is far from definitive, but eventually got me to a workable solution. If I thought there was promise for a simple, robust solution, I'd probably continue testing in full DOE mode. But for now I'll let someone else pick up that torch.
