@Trevor
— The sting of stinging nettle comes from hairs on the surface of the leave that have a brittle silicate tip (glass basically), but it's the cocktail of chemicals released by glands in these tips that causes the sting. The chemicals include histamines that trigger an inflammatory response in your skin. They're usually disarmed by blanching in lots of hot water. But it's not so much the hot water that disarms them as much as it is the water, which dilutes the irritating chemicals. So you can soak nettles in a large volume of cold water for a while to disarm their sting.

well sometimes its enough to soak them in warm water for 10 min but to make sure
you wont end up with an itchy mouth you want to blanch them!thats the only way i know of getting rid of
the stings.
