A bunch of small misfortunes led to a great day: It all began with the worst winter. Snow storms that brought 1-3 feet every week from Feb through mid March (winter isn't coming, it never leaves). More than 1 cancelled dinner party meant 8 forgotten grass-fed, cross cut veal shanks in the freezer. The freezer door not being shut on properly on Friday meant lots of of new freezer space and partially defrosted lamb shanks.
30 hours later I am getting ready for some sous Vide Osso Bucco. Much of the ingredients are from my garden (Heriloom carrots and San Marzano tomatoes, fall planted garlic, celery, onions). All of this has me thinking, I may have too try making a caseless Osso Bucco weiner using meat glue and serve it in a marroow bone luge next time.
As for the empty freezer space, this is the last of 6
batches of strawberry jam I made to fill it (strawberries, lavender, and mint from my garden). A great way to spend a rainy summer day.
Jam Flavours:
Strawberry
Strawberry Vanilla
Strawberry Balsamic and Mint
Strawberry Grand Marnier
