Extra Virgin Olive Oil
chriswrightcycles
All,
I'm on the hunt for a higher end EVOO for finishing and I'd love some suggestions from the community. Does anyone here have any brand/producer recommendations?

If you have a gourmet shop near you, see if they do olive oil tastings. The best way to figure out what you like is to taste a bunch of oils along side one another, though that's obviously not always feasible. But olive oil tasting is one of my favorite things to do when I visit Zingerman's or Eataly. Actually, their websites aren't bad places to browse for various kinds of olive oil; Eataly in particular has their oils sorted by flavor characteristics.
Last time I visited Eataly, the
Frantoio Franci Toscano IGP 2014
was my favorite. But I always seem to find new favorites each time I go tasting.

Great recommendation. Sounds like it's worth the trip to NYC.

Eataly is a great place (in NYC or Chicago). I recently was given some organic extra virgin-cold pressed/unrefined that was like eating olive juice. Quite amazing (color and taste). Downside it, the gift was a blank bottle. The challenge was/is it is VERY Olive....ey. Some of the other's I've had from Tunsia (sp?) is a bit more peppery (specialty olive oil store) and my other favorite is Manni

who will ship dirrect. It is a bit pricey, but goes with many things. The "per me" is more robust (and my preference) than the "per mio figlio" but both are excellent.
