My friend bet me $100 that I could not make a McRib to rival Ronald's. I've never tasted a McRib but I took the bet. I basically did the
Apartment Ribs recipe, de-boned the half rack after sous vide and built a zippy sauce using some little Pequin peppers that I pickled. Then I laced my sauce with some MSG and slathered it onto the meat. Using a pic of the McRib, I added some toppings for full effect and presentation. His family came over with the authentic McRib and the contest was on. Here was our entry:
