Depends on what you are trying to achieve be being sugar free...I've seen recipes using coconut milk+maple syrup+vanilla+salt

Pick up some sugar substitute from the store and give it a shot. Maple syrup, agave, palm sugar, etc are all sugar, so you're going to need stevia, splenda, an actual substitute, not sugar from another source. I wouldn't invest too much into it because the chemical reaction would be different, but try it out

sugar free? dairy free?? many ways to get there all with different flavors. sugar alcohols, coconut milk and maple syrup. most rrecipes benefit from a flavored extract.
