Black Lava Salt
Afonso_Tito_de_Morais_164825
Is it really just sea salt blended with activated charcoal? If so, can I make it at home?

perhaps I'm mistaken, I thought it was indian/himalayan.

"Black lava salt is a marketing term for
sea salt
harvested from various places around the world that has been blended and colored with
activated charcoal
. The salt is used as a decorative
condiment
to be shown at the table."
I thought for some insane reason it occurred naturally until you asked..

After some research, Black Salt and Black Lava Salt are too completely different things. Lava is, as mentioned, made by blending with activated charcoal (and selling at a outrageous price afterwards), Black Salt is a traditional himalayan salt, though it's flavour is said to be very different, being used more as a spice, than a salt.

I know right?! Crazy stuff. I'll give a shot at making it if I get charcoal around.
