When asking the kids what they wanted for dinner, we settled on Crispy Chicken as a treat because we're having a beef stew for Sunday. So, my 7yo son said, I'll help you dad because I want Crispy Chicken....and so he set out to help (and he did-pretty much all of it). He helped at every stage (did most of it actually), but he set a new standard for clean as you go........after getting all the spices together with the scale (this was painful for me not to help) for he flour blend, he washed his hands between each step.....dip in flour....wash hands.....dip in buttermilk.....wash hands.......dip in flour again.....wash hands.....into the oil....wash hands..... LOL. With it, triple cooked chips/french fries (he did these virtually all on his own), brussel sprouts (he did the sprouts-I did the leaves), he even salted and plated the fries (the magic? Dad-these need more salt, salt makes them taste better-I have never said anything like that to him-though he did use a bit too much LOL!), the sandwich and sprouts. Grabbed the phone (I didn't say a word) and took the picture himself. Yup I'm smiling.
