New ChefSteps Class Design

Today we released a new design update for our classes. We've started by just updating our Espresso class in order to gather a bit of feedback. You can check out the new design here: https://www.chefsteps.com/classes/espresso

We're hoping this new design will make it much easier to work through classes on mobile. We'd love to hear what you think!

We're also thinking about rebranding "Classes" as "Deep Dives" since many of our classes don't follow a traditional structure. Is this confusing to you? Let us know in the comments below.

I like the look, but each section dead ends......take me to the next stage/phase, or back home or..... a choice of sections?

I like it, it is easier to navigate with my iPad than the former format using a web browser. As for the verbiage, I have no preference; potatoes patatoes.

Thanks, Todd! So, I'm curious on your thoughts about this. The reason we got rid of the Next/Previous buttons is in that in many cases they didn't make a ton of sense because the class doesn't have a linear flow. For example, if you are in the macarons class, it doesn't make too much sense to go forward from Raspberry Filling to Dulce De Leche filling, or from the last cookie flavor to the first filling. That said, if people really want a way to just step through, it wouldn't be hard to add back. Thoughts? Anyone else?

Hi Michael from what I recall there would have been good reason to use it (I'm traveling). It was part of the coffee class and was at a point where it would have made sense to have the option to go forward or back. I agree it won't apply for all classes but would suspect it will for some.

@Luke_Clum_170065 I would love to see a rework of the CS app for iOS. Add additional features like being able to navigate to the forum and easier access to classes. I really like the egg calculator on the app, but for the most part I use a browser because it is easier to navigate.

Hey John, thanks for the feedback. That's definitely something we'd love to update at some point in the near future. What would you say are the biggest pain points for you in the CS app? What parts of the site are better? What parts of the app do you think have the most potential?

I would really like to be able to get the same content that is available in browser format. It is very difficult to get to any of the classes and I have no idea if you can get to the forum, I haven't figured that one out. Additionally be able navigate to premium and Joule. Currently navigation is limited to: recipes, egg timer, about ChefSteps with the app. And like I said I love the egg timer function in the app, I like it much better than the browser version and it is much quicker to get to.
