I've been invited by a local partnership of chefs to be a guest cook at one of their pop-up dinners. This is the first time my food will prepared for and eaten by people who paid to be there. I am a home cook that wants to be a owner/chef of my concept one day in the future. One thing that I think is important in this business is creating a brand for yourself, so over the past few years I've been sharing my dishes, recipes, ideas and knowledge with foodie groups on Facebook. One of the groups is called Houston Foodie Friends, and you can search Carter Wade Elkins in that group to see my post if you would like, it is a public group. My idea was that I wanted to show a consistent level of good food, descriptions and good photography so that over time people would recognize my food, name and post when they see them. Well it finally paid off with this invitation to be a guest cook at a private pop-up. Just thought I would share since I have learned and grown from and with this community of cooks and like minded individuals.
