Multitaskers
Kevin_221034
Considering smaller home kitchens, if you had to choose only 1 of the common kitchen multi-taskers (stand mixers, food processors, blenders), which one would you choose and why?

I bake a lot, so for me it's stand mixer hands-down. If you're more into cooking, a blender would seem to make the most sense. Food processor I'd say is the least useful. I have a stand mixer, high powered blender, box grater, and mortar + pestle, and almost never need to get out my min food processor. Maybe if I had a big, powerful, feature-laden one I'd want to use it more.

Thermomix, it pretty much does all that you listed (and cooks).....but at a higher price point.

Stand mixer with multiple attachments. High price point but with decent attachments it can do everything you stated (not the blender tho) and more, such as pasta rolling, meat grinding etc.

They all do different things. So it depends on what you cook. Stand mixers are useful but can be replaced by whisks, spoons and the firearms of an Italian grandmother. Blenders and food processesors can also be replaced, to a lesser yield by knives, whisks, and determination. I would get a stick blender kit which does a bit of everything at a realativly low price point, use it for a while, find out which function just doesn't cut it for you, and get the full size machine which replaces that function.

You'll have to pry my cold dead fingers off my stand mixer and food processor....

They are all incredibly useful, but a high-powered blender (VitaPrep-3, in my case) has probably been the biggest game changer for me.
