Hello fellow ChefSteppers,
My names is John and live in a rural suburb of Spokane, Washington. My culinary journey started as a child, watching Julia Child and other chefs on PBS. I later graduated to The Food Network and really got hooked. My job has given me the opportunity to live and travel abroad and eat at some of the best restaurants in the world. I attended Wandee Culinary Arts School while living in Bangkok, Thailand. I have also attended some food enthusiasts classes at the CIA Greystone. Cooking has been one of my passions and hobbies for most of my life. Three of the highlights on this journey were meeting and talking with Martin Yan, who referred to me as a chef. I also was afforded the privilege of talking with Thomas Keller for about 20 minutes just recently. But in all honesty finding ChefSteps has been the most fulfilling. This is a place where we learn and have the opportunity to share and pursue our individual culinary passions with others who understand and share the same. It has helped me to become a better cook.
What do I hope to learn? How to give my ingredients the respect they deserve to produce the best food I can. To learn about new techniques and ingredients and how to use equipment that I am unfamiliar with.
What do I want to share? My enthusiasm with my limited knowledge. My accomplishments and my failures. And any encouragement I can give to those of our community.
