Born and raised in central PA (I bleed black and gold blood, weird), moved to Los Angeles nearly 20 years ago. I live in Encino with my lovely wife, Kim, our two beagles, Carlin and Lily, and our cat, Tammy. (Fun fact one: Tammy was fostered and named by the actress who played Cindy Brady.) (Fun fact two: When I go to Trader Joe's and they're all out of Tejava, it's because Dave Grohl was just there and bought the place out.)
I'm a paralegal by trade, underappreciated rock guitar god by design, and fan of hockey and motorsports by golly. I can also speak German poorly, and know about 100 words in Japanese. (WHICH IS SUPER USEFUL, LET ME TELL YOU)
My introduction to cooking came about when I found myself with an unexpected glut of free time (read: unemployed) and got hooked on the old stand-and-stir shows on Food Network. Mario Batali was my muse, if that's the word. Eventually discovered the joys of modernist cooking through the exceptional In Search Of Perfection series from the UK. I have no recollection of how I came to ChefSteps, but I can honestly say this crew and community has changed my life.
