I love the dedication you have for this class hahahahahaha. It's been like...two years?
fitzek2000
Correct and still nothing happened. This year my Dream and the dream of many others should become true reality.

ChefSteps should set up a class on buying used restaurant equipment. I lust after both of the above objects. Icemaker. Freezer. *sighs*
tangma27
I think they actually got that from UW's lab which kinda makes it funnier

It s just time for the premium pacojet class. Summer is almost here. And if I ask in September for this, no chance because too cold for chef steps team. ;-)
brian_martin2001
Have you tried contacting them directly? I ask only because you've made this suggestion a few times already with no satisfaction, and am wondering if you contracted then directly if you might have better results.
fitzek2000
I think I did, but I am not sure. They know that that class would be amazing. But it s not for everyone, because not everybody has a pacojet. But the intention of chef steps was always to make out of a chef a better chef. And not to make out of a hobby cook a master chef.

Let's make sure by tagging
@Ellen_212162
about your idea for a class.

Hi Hubert! Thanks so much for your email and comment! I'll definitely suggest this to the team!

not that i'd mind a paco jet class, but it seems that chefsteps is more and more angling towards the somewhat ambitous house wife kinda cook, so realistically i don't think that it makes sense for the direction they are going. Whats the point of doing a class on a piece of equipment virtually no one in your target audience is gonna have? Unless your selling it? That said if cheftspes could come up with a pacoe jet equivalent that sells for ~1000$ I'm totally in.
fitzek2000
The direction they Are going is towards like u Said "ambitious House wife kinda Cook" but that s exactly what we Don t need. There is enough house wife forums out there. To reach a big crowd yes u go for the "housewife stuff" but the Intention of this Website was Called by name: chefsteps, step by step to become a better chef. And Not housewife steps. ;-) well. This piece of Equipment is far underated plus it became a world wide used Equipment by professionell Chefs. So. Doing a premium version by payment Nobody will have a Problem with that. I will allways fight for the pro premium classes. Because it s the only world wide Channel were we Hard working Chefs Can Exchange with fun and a smile. All the best.

I think you need to watch
this
. In the couple responses you've made in this posting, as well as numerous in the past, I think you've completely missed the mark in what ChefSteps is trying to achieve. What you say "chefsteps, step by step to become a better chef. And Not housewife steps" has nothing to do with what they're goal is. According to the chefs at ChefSteps, they want to inspire people in the kitchen, to demystify cooking, to bring more comfort and adventure in the kitchen. This applies to all people who cook: wives, husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, children, and yes, even professional chefs. The post you made a while back, where you think there should be a
designated section for professional chefs and another section for amateurs
is completely against what their stated purpose is. For someone who's been here as long as you have, you seem to keep trying to keep the professionals and the amateurs separated. This is a place for EVERYONE: the pros and the ones who do if for the love of it. This is not a "step by step to become a better chef" but a variety of videos and recipes and techniques and tidbits of random information to inspire everyone, to drive people of all professions forward into taking a plunge into something new and awesome.
fitzek2000
Well. I respect the wish to have a platform for everyone and I respect different views. But don t u think there are enough other platforms for people who are just doing this for a hobby? Or doesn t it make sense to be a little specialised in order to make us chefs happy. I don t see a problem with offering special classes for chefs. And if there are interested hobby chefs they can still purchase that premium class anyway.

I agree with you. i think the focus should be on our commonalities, like our love of food and cooking and not on what sets us apart, like our ability and /or willingness to spend a lot of money. As i said if a paco jet was actually a viable option for most people, it would make sense to do classes on it, like it is the case with sous vide or siphons. It just seems like a waste of time to make a class on something that won't be usable for like 90% of the audience. I didn't mean the house wife thing in a derogatory way. I think a lot of what chefsteps is trying to do is to basically take the "fear" away. Just beacuse something sounds cheffy, doesn't mean you can't do it at home. But that's just the thing, a paco jet is just too far out for most people, that it would scare them away. I mean i am a premium member, but i wouldn't pay money for a paco jet class, because it's just way too far out there.
This has gotten a bit longer than i anticipated. hope it makes sense.
fitzek2000
Thanks. Well as u see. I am stuck in controversity. I rather stay quiet now. ;-)
brian_martin2001
Which is why i said there's nothing wrong with asking for it. The I was seeing had absolutely nothing to do with the class. These chefs and scientists do all kinds of crazy off the wall stuff. If there's some knowledge that you want that you think they can share, ask for it. I'm all about it.

While we wait, this is at least a start:

Happy New Year Paco Jet Friends. Do You remember Asterix and Obelix? Both of them climbing to the top of the mountain to answer a question by a wise guy.... well. I made it to the top but no wise guy for answering my question . ;-)We write the year 2017, summer is close ;-) I rather already ask for the paco jet class? ;-)
