It's fall (almost!) and apple season is upon us! That means apple pie...bread...cookies...anything and everything you can add apple to, this is the time. Last year I was curious about an ingredient I had never heard of: boiled cider. King Arthur hawks it in their fall email blasts as a way to kick up the apple-y goodness in your baked goods. So I took a look and saw that the ingredients for the boiled cider, at $12.95 a pint from KA, was....apple cider. That's it. So I did a little bit of research and found out yep. It's that simple. One gallon of the best apple cider you can pour down your gullet, one large pan that can hold said gallon of delicious cider, one wooden spoon, and one burner on your stove. And time. LOTS of time. Anywhere from 6 to 8 hours of time. Boil, stir....boil, stir....until that gallon of cider has been reduced to about a pint of beautiful amber apple syrup, bursting with apple flavor.

You don't know what you're missing if you don't make a pint of your own!! Lasts a very long time in the fridge, easy to make and is pure apple heaven!
