I can use the joule just fine with a converter to satisfy its electrical requirements. What is the way forward for me. It is not okay if you are going to brick my joule with a software update.
Hi mailkundu, Joule support is continuing in areas where Joule was officially sold. This ensures the device is used in regions where it meets both electrical safety standards and warranty coverage. That said, please send us an email at customerexperience@chefsteps.com so we can see if we can assist further.
I'd like to have this discussion in public please. This update will officially brick my joule - I have never needed support to operate my Joule and I should not. You should not get to decide where I use an item that I have purchased. So kindly please let me know how I can continue to use my Joule in India. Thanks.
Can I get a clear YES / NO response to this here? Is there a way to continue to operate my Joule in India?
At this time, we’re not able to support or ensure the continued app-based operation of Joule in India. Joule is designed to function with an app-connected experience, and that relies on regional compatibility for connectivity, infrastructure, and regulatory requirements. If you’d like, our support team can still take a closer look at your setup and share any available guidance.
My connectivity is via the internet and wifi and bluetooth. There is no specific regulation that restricts internet based apps such as Joule to operate in this region as far as I am aware. The decision to not do so is entirely self-imposed by Joule and Breville. That said, I'd like support to please walk me through how I can continue to use it.
I'm just guessing, but differing legal liability (remote cooking device), regulatory compliance (electrical and safety standards), and cloud service limitations could easily prevent support in other countries. I'd say you are out of luck.
@mailkundu Joule support is continuing in areas where Joule was officially sold and has been covered under the warranty for use and support coverage.
