@Grant_Lee_Crilly_63791 Question! I understand wanting to be exact with some measurements in cooking and baking. Was curious if Chefsteps will ever add units such as cups, tsp, tbsp, etc. It just isn't practical.. at least for me.. imagining a Beef Broth yield of 5500g does nothing for me =/. okay well I know it's around 5.5L.
You get what I'm saying though right??

0.25g bayleaf. Fine I'll go out and buy a scientific scale for my bay leaves and vanilla extract =P

Scales are cheap. And using them is cleaner, faster, easier, and more accurate than using spoons or cups or scoops.

Scales are dirt cheap. 5.5L or 5500g makes a ton of sense, seriously - spend the time to learn it, it'll pay off in the end. Less cups, spoons, bad measurements and so on.

I get really frustrated with recipes that aren't by weight now. I hate having to break out the cups and spoons.

Recipes are guidelines, I understand that you would follow the main measurement but I never weight bay leaves or vanilla extract, you use common sense. That said, Cups, Tbsp and Tsp are so inaccurate, it's scary. I'm ok with them in savory recipes that doesn't require crazy precision, but for baking and pastry they are a travesty of measurement.

I totally agree with it being more practical, faster and cleaner. There are a few things that weighing in grams isn't my favorite. Spices and vanilla extract. Really small items you'd need a more accurate scale for.

Sharing these recipes with friends and around the office is something I enjoy doing. Most people around here don't have scale rated for multiple decimal points with grams. I own a small scientific scale but most people that I know don't seem to own one.

@Nicolas_Aithadi_68096 easy to say common sense, but most people are not not very adept in the kitchen. Saying 0.25 g Bay leaf would mean nothing to many people. There are other similarly small measurements in other recipes.

Interesting though, looking at some recipes and there are other measurements. The chocolate gluten free cake has 4 eggs whereas some recipes say '55g eggs'. What size? large, small or extra large?! lol
