Edit: What the hell... I just checked the snake river farms website and they're selling the exact same steak for $45 less than ChefSteps is: http://www.snakeriverfarms.com/srf-underweight-cap-of-ribeye.html at $115 + http://www.snakeriverfarms.com/american-kobe-filet-mignon.html at 4 for $140 = $255.

Erm... did I get my math wrong or are the steaks ChefSteps is selling really worth $125/lb? I know there's a significant cost to the ribeye cap and quality grading, but this seems excessive.

It's what John said. It's all about the shipping cost. I did a dummy order and with overnight freight, the total cost was $335.

Snake River Farms is good, Brandt beef farms is insane!!!

I would order from there next time to try it out. You'll find their reputation to be astounding online.
