Binchotan grill... inside
Jack_Lawrence_155138
On a scale from 1 to "ARE YOU CRAZY?! YOU'RE GOING TO BURN DOWN THE HOUSE!" how bad of an idea would it be to try to do yakitori/Japanese BBQ indoors with Binchotan charcoal? I heard it doesn't produce much if any smoke...

I've been to Japanese and Korean restaurants that use them indoors, but they have good ventilation systems.

Burning charcoal releases carbon monoxide. People have died doing that indoors. Very bad idea.

I've done it with a small konro under vent hood to take care of smoke from grilling. A small one used for a short amount of time isn't going to kill you with co and can easily be picked up barehanded or dry towel if a little too warm. The binchotan is smokeless and if you only use the grill for a short time plunge the remaining charcoal into a steel bowl with water and let dry... it can be reused down to its smallest nubbins!! It's expensive!
Mostly I do this stuff out on the porch on a bigger konro cause I don't like listening to the hood in my face ;-)
This is the small one that I've used...

I use mine inside, always under a running vent hood. Ensure you have a noncombustible surroundings, fire extinguisher, and a sand filled metal bucket, with lid, for the coals.

Alright, thanks everyone for the advice. I don't have a proper vent hood (just a microwave over the stove with a filter thing), so I'm not going to risk it.

I think before buying any grill you should get information about grilling which you can read here and get

I also use it indoor, I have a ventilation system in my kitchen which exhausts all smoke outside.
I suggest others to use it
indoor
only if they have ventilation systems.
