Temperature not hitting target.

Hello. I am cooking some chicken breasts and set the temp for 140F. For the last 15 minutes or so, I have been monitoring the temp and it's hovering around 135/136. Light is orange

as if it is heating, but the temp is not getting up to 140. Is this normal?

Is the orange light slowly blinking? If so maybe the thermal mass of the protein has lowered the temp and it's catching up. Was the led ever green? If you have a thermopen put it right up to the outlet and see what the temp is coming out.

Also looking at the pic it seems like there's not a lot of water in the pot for as much chicken is in there.

It had been green until I put the chicken in, which obviously lowered the temp. I didnt look again until an hour and a half in, but at that point it was slowly blinking orange and the temp was hovering around 135/6. The chicken came out amazing, still. I'll try more water next time.

Glad they turned out, more water will def help out but that is a long time in not to be at temp, maybe even a bigger vessel. The more the water circulates around the product the better!

You might want to also open a support request in the app, and ask the CS team if they have any insight.

I'm leaning towards the thermal mass of the breasts theory.

(I initially wrote that with a straight face. *Then* I giggled.)

And two of the four breasts are snuggled very close to the intake zone as well ;-)

The problem there is that I was setting it up to cook bacon over night and it wouldn't even hit 140 with just water in it. I opened a support ticket, though, since I have only used the unit twice.
