Food Lab, Modernist cuisine at home, the science of good cooking, and the flavor bible.

My only addition would be Sauces and a bunch of Thai cookbooks, but only because I really like Thai.

Sauces is definitely a must have.

There's a lot of cookbooks, why didn't you pick these?

El bulli family meal. I really like how they turn 3 dishes. I also think it's one of the more original photosgraphy / layout designs.

Damn iPhone typo! Sorry. Why did you pick them? These are all solid picks but somewhat obvious choices. Is there something specific you like about them?

My new acquisition is "Taste and Techniques" by Naomi Pomeroy. It's a gorgeous book with solid basic techniques that every respecting cook should master. Pictures are beautiful and it makes me want to cook from it all the time.

A few of the ones I have picked up (somewhat) recently are: Marc Forgione, Gramercy Tavern, Eleven Madison Park, VOLT/ink, Try This at Home (R. Blais), Maximum Flavor, the Keller books, Happy in the Kitchen (an oldie, but a good one), A Return to Cooking, Momofuku, The Flavor Bible ... And yes, I do have a cookbook problem!
