Dining suggestions in DC?

Any recommendations on places that shouldn't be missed? Going to be there for about a week. I've got a very small list going and need some help filling it out. Realized I don't know much about other the local dining scene beyond Jose Andres. Family trip, so anything from coffee shops to ice cream, sandwiches to tasting menus, breakfast spots....anything goes.

List so far:

Central?

Rose's Luxury?

American Eats Tavern? (if it's reopened by then)

This is my favorite question because I used to be a restaurant reviewer in DC before I came to ChefSteps. I heartily endorse the top picks from my former coworkers at Washingtonian. The team researches the list exhaustively and they are very knowledgable about food and the industry.

Minibar is a blast—as is Barmini next store. You've already got Rose's Luxury and probably have considered Pineapple and Pearls too. Some of the best restaurants in DC require standing in line. If your family is up for that, Little Serow, Johnny Monis's Northern Thai restaurant, is incredible. Bad Saint, the Filipino restaurant that was Bon Appetit's number two restaurant in the country last year, has even longer lines and an even more fervent following.

Stephen Starr's Le Diplomate is fun, has great bistro fare, and is really family friendly. I also wouldn't miss: All-Purpose Pizza, The Red Hen, Isakaya Seki, Rasika, The Source, the breakfast sandwiches at the coffee shop next to Pineapple and Pearls, baked goods at Bread Furst...I could go on. But check out that Washingtonian list—I have been out of town for a few years now and the dining scene has continued to explode since I left.
