Joule on european electrical grid

I just bought a Joule and took it home to Norway.

Does anyone know if the Joule will work on the european grid?

The US I believe use 120V/60hz with Europe using 240V/50hz.

The real question is, can I get away with changing the plug, or do I need to get a converter.

Hi @Peter_Kjelling_474308, I'm so sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the current design is not capable of operating safely on 220 or 240 VAC power, even with a transformer or converter, and will not be covered by our warranty when used outside North America. Given this, if you'd like to return your Joule to ChefSteps or Amazon (depending on where you originally purchased) for a full refund, we completely understand.

Hi Peter, see what Ellen said and know there are a few using it with a transformer successfully, but essentially that's done at their/your own risk.

@Peter_Kjelling_474308 I have done this before with several pieces of equipment inc the first edition of the sous vide supreme. Make sure you buy a good quality transformer with sufficient capacity. They tend to be quit bulky and expensive though.

Is there a reason I could not bring a unit to the Dominican Republic, the DR uses 120v electricity
