Polyscience Chef Series problem
Daren_Tobert_37354
So, just got my chef series circulator. Plugged it in, used for several hours, worked flawlessly. Get up this AM, turn it on, pop goes the GFCI. Pops within a second. Can plug it in on standby, but as soon as turned on, pop. 3 different circuits in my house.
Works fine on a non-GFCI circuit, but that means I can't use the unit in my kitchen (which is kind of a problem for a kitchen appliance!). Anyone else seen this? Any suggestions?

Does any other high wattage appliance (hair dryer, electric kettle, microwave, etc) trip the GFCI outlet?
Did you have any other appliance on in the morning that you didn't the day before - coffee machine, electric kettle, kitchen lights, etc.
Did you try three different power outlets or circuits? How do you know the circuits are different? There can be up to 11 outlets/lights on one electrical circuit.

Problem solved itself! I used the circulator on a non-GFCI circuit for a while, with a few power ups/power down cycles, and noticed the screen would do a half-second reboot thing with a splash screen. It wasn't doing that when it was tripping the circuit, so I tried it again on GFCI & now it runs properly. Suspect it was caught in a mode where it would instantly pull max power when turned on. Resetting it solved the problem.
