2nd attempt on a main course need your critic

Hi all i would like to show you an attempt on a new recipe i made (didnt see it anywere else correct me if i'm wrong :P) I'ts a pan fried steak with a cabbage slaw type on a bed of puured smoke orange bell pepper the white embarrasing stuff on the plate is a dian

e sauce..Feel free to critic it so i can learn new things presentation wise or anythng else that caught your eye and should be done better.Thanks in advance!

I've never been one to fret about how a plate looks. The only thing that looks a bit unappealing is the white sauce just thrown on there, but as long as it tastes good, that's the real important part.

What type of steak is that? If it were me I think I would try to group it into smaller portions, or put the purée in a line on plate and put smaller piles of the slaw along it, with pieces of meat on/next to the slaw. Or maybe pull the purée along the edge of the plate and work the slaw and steak toward the edges, add sauce in a more intentional way? Visually try to keep things to odd numbers. But like Brian said try to have the flavour and how the components interact with each other be the important part. I always try to think about the balance of the dish and how those components can work flavour wise, visually, colour, texturally, temp, etc. With each other and how those parts should be eaten (together or separate?) try to make it look good without it being too clean.

Most of all, just keep at it. Try new stuff, try old stuff. Just keep trying stuff. Push the purée with a spoon, pull it with a spoon, spread with offset spatula, put a dollop and smack it with the back of spoon. No rules, no right, no wrong. Experiment, have fun... I know thats why i do it.

My two cents, I'm just a guy who cooks at home though.

It's a fore rib steak.Best i could find in the local shops meat market is a bit behind in greece you cant find easily those prime cuts cause they dont even know them

..Flavor wise in my opinion it worked pretty well the peppers and the steak also the also was there to give a kick.Thanks a lot for your tips!
