Is it just me, or does the Searzall...

Nope you're not alone on that. I have a couple of Colman propane tank mounted space heaters that have a rectangle head w/screens that spread the infrared out and I have used these to heat pizza up on a job or two ;-) I think my bigger one puts out 90k btu.. quite sunlike if you're standing close! When I first saw the searzall I could help but think that either those or Mr. Heater had a an influence on Dave and then I thought why didn't I ...... doh!
Edit... how are you liking that hi-soft board you got!?

I was talking tommy uncle about searzall about a year ago. I explained it to him and he said, yeah I have that in the barn.. I used it to heat shrink plastic wrap for a boat. Showed him a photo of a searzall, said yeah that exact same thing. Lol. They must exist in a different capacity, and maybe not as not?

That sounds like a heat gun. I've used those before, but their thermal output is nowhere close to a torch or Searzall. Dave has talked about heat guns for searing, and his experience is the same as mine... they get hot enough to cook, but not really hot enough to sear.

90k BTU?! Damn!
I'm loving the hi-soft board. It's definitely kinder to my Globals than my other boards, which cuts down on my need to sharpen... which is very nice. You can really go to town on veg with push cuts and not worry about blunting your edge.

Nice! Good to hear... might treat myself! That knock off while ok for the money is showing knife marks more than I would like but still as you say cuts down on sharpening for sure!
Yeah if I had a clear tank you could probably see the propane descend purdy quick at full tilt, it starts off at 45k. Can't use a 5 gal tank have to use a 10. Could probably put a spit in front of it and do rotisserie... Everything that's in front of it that is perpendicular to the infrared waves gets nice and warm 😊

I haven't tried searing on one but I have cooked on one with a pan. I have a propane space heater that fits on a five gallon tank, the infrared element was designed to heat or cook on.

Next time I'm out there I'll ask him to see it. Was definitely not a heat gun, it hooked up to a torch.
